The following guide will help you understand how the MotoPart Alert AIR application works and will descibe the modules and features. If you have any other questions about how tro use the application please contact mpa-support@motopartalert.com

MotoPart Alert Console

This is the MotoPart Alert console which consists of three modules, the Part Requests, the My Requests and the My Responses (each of these modules will be covered below). There are also buttons and links that will allow you to request parts and modify your account information

Activation

Once you have downloaded and installed both the Adobe AIR framework and the MotoPart AIR application you will be asked to enter in your License Key and Activate your account.

Account Settings

Once your Account is activated the basic information about your account will be retrieved from the server and you will be able to provide additional information. This information includes:

  • Business Hours
  • Fax
  • An additional phone (e.g. toll free or mobile)
  • Your preferred shipping carriers
  • Your method of payment acceptance
  • Upload your logo
  • Supply a standard disclaimer or terms of service

You can then save these settings to the server when you click the "Save changes" button

Part Requests Module

The Part Requests Module will display all recent part requests that have been submitted. These requests will be from other dealers and will include requests that have come in from the website.

Dealers that have not uploaded a logo in their Account Profile will have the default blue D icon and requests that come in from the website will have the default red C icon. You can click on the individual Part Requests to bring up the full details of the request.

You can click on the dealer's logo to find out more information about the dealer as well. Web requests will have all the necessary contact information listed in the detail view.

This module will update when there are new requests submitted to the server, and an audible "ding" will sound. You can also manually refresh the module by clicking the Manual refresh button button on the top right corner of the module.

It should be noted that future versions of teh MotoPart Alert application will support requests for parts other than for motorcycles. When this is deployed the legend at the top and the colored squares in the requests will represent the additional parts categories. If there are requests for ATV or Jet Ski parts, the legend will display those items.

Request a Part

To submit a Part Request to the MotoPart Alert network click the Part Request button at the top left. The Part Request module will pop up and you can fill in the request. Currently the Make, Year and Model names can be selected from the down-drop or you can fill in this information if you do not see the model you are looking for displayed.

You can select Part Category and if you know the part number you can enter that as well. Choose a part condition (new, used or either). a quantity, and any comments you have about the request, then click Send request. You will see your request listed in the "My Requests" module as well as in the Part Requests module.

My Requests Module

The My Request module will display the requests that you have submitted, along with a summary of the responses that the other dealers have submitted to your reques

If you have not received a response to your request after a day or so you can resubmit the request and it will bring it to the top of the queue.

My Requests with Response Details

To view the details of a response simply click on the response and it will open the detail view. This view will allow you to see the details of your request as well as the details of the response. You can click through all the responses without closing the detail view, and the response that is being displayed in the window will be highlighted in light blue.

At this point it is up to you to contact the dealer that you wish to conduct the transaction with. You can do this via phone or email via the information they provide.

You can click the "Copy info" button at the bottom which will copy all the info into the Clipboard, from there you can paste that info into your contact manager or billing software.


Part Response Module

Part Response Module

The Part Response module will allow you to submit a response to a part request. Click on the part request from the Part Request module. You can enter in a price, shipping cost, quantity available, part condition, date available and any comments you might have about the part or the request.

When submitted the response will be recorded in your My Responses module. Dealer's will see your response in the MotoPart Alert app and consumers who submit the request from the web will be notified via email.

My Responses

The My Responses module will provide you with a history of your responses to other dealers and consumers. Similar in nature to the detail view of "My Requests with Response Details" above, this view will allow you to see the details of the responses to your request. You can click through all the responses without closing the detail view, and the request/response pair that is being displayed in the window will be highlighted in light blue.
